9Marks Northwest Conference

This is not a WVBA hosted event, but it is one we want you to know about. It takes place on Friday night and Saturday at Hinson Baptist Church in Portland. The theme this year is discipleship.

The 9Marks Northwest Conference is a way for Christians to learn about often-overlooked biblical practices for the church. The focus of this 2026 conference is the important topic of Discipling. Many evangelical Christians may have already formed opinions about discipleship informed by their good or bad experience of it in the local church. But what does the Bible say? And how should we practice healthy discipleship for the good of the church? This conference will be helpful to both vocational church leaders as well as lay leaders and congregants as we seek to encourage the breadth of the local church.

Speakers will present nine sessions on building healthy (that is, biblical) churches through a Biblical understanding and practice of discipleship. We will study the theology behind discipleship and the practical outworking of discipleship in the local church. There will be many opportunities throughout the conference to ask questions, dialogue with the speakers, and build relationships with other Christians.

Dates: March 6-7

9Marks Weekender

The Weekender immerses church leaders and seminarians in the life of Hinson Baptist Church over the course of a weekend. You'll get an up-close and personal experience with our services, congregational meeting, focused teaching on the church, plenty of Q&A, and even sit in an Elder Meeting. The point is not to replicate exactly what you see. In fact, we'd prefer you don't! But we do want to show you what we do and the biblical and pastoral reasoning behind it. We hope this creates meaningful relationships with other churches while building each other up. We would love you to join us. Bring yourselves and whatever questions you have. From leadership to worship to body life, it's all on the table!

Dates: May 15-17, 2026
